Seeking Divine Guidance in Times of Crisis: 04/18/2025
Dear Creator, In the face of current uncertainty and challenges, we approach You with open hearts, seeking Your divine grace and guidance for all beings. We extend our heartfelt support to the people of Ukraine, as they grapple with critical moments in their ongoing peace efforts. May wisdom and compassion guide leaders toward a resolution that brings hope for a brighter future.
We extend our prayers to those affected by the deportation of a Maryland man, as communities and leaders grapple with division. May understanding and humanity prevail, fostering unity and ensuring justice.
For those impacted by the escalating campaign in Yemen, we implore You to provide protection and healing. May peace and diplomacy prevail over conflict, offering relief to those suffering.
We hold in our hearts the Parkland survivors, who are now enduring another tragic shooting. Grant them strength and comfort, and may their resilience inspire us all to work toward a world free from violence.
We also extend our support to the voices of resistance and progress, as institutions and individuals strive for change. May their efforts be guided by integrity and hope, creating pathways to a better tomorrow.
In all these trials, we humbly ask for Your divine grace and guidance. May peace prevail in our hearts, homes, and across the globe. Amen.

Shining Light in a Dark World
BE LIGHT BEARERS IN A WORLD OF DARKNESS
The world needs less heat and more light. It needs less of the heat of anger, revenge, retaliation, and more of the ideas, faith, courage, aspiration, joy, love, and hope. – Wilfred Peterson
Key Scripture Passages:
- Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
- Romans 12:17-18: “Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
- Ephesians 4:26-27: “In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”
Reflection: Wilfred Peterson’s metaphor of “heat” represents the destructive power of unchecked anger, revenge, and retaliation. These are emotions that can consume and harm both individuals and communities. Scripture warns against these impulses, encouraging believers to rise above them. Romans 12:17-18 reminds us that vengeance belongs to God alone and calls us to pursue peace, even when it seems difficult.
Conversely, Peterson’s “light” signifies the positive forces that bring warmth, clarity, and guidance to others—faith, courage, joy, love, and hope. Jesus directly instructs His followers in Matthew 5:14-16 to be the “light of the world,” reflecting God’s goodness and illuminating the path toward righteousness for others.
Ephesians 4:26-27 further acknowledges that anger, while a natural emotion, must not lead us into sin. When anger festers, it creates a foothold for darkness. The lesson here is to resolve conflicts promptly, forgiving others as God has forgiven us, and replacing “heat” with the peace and love that come from God’s Spirit.

- Pursue Peace Actively: In your relationships and interactions, strive to be a peacemaker, seeking reconciliation and understanding instead of conflict.
- Reflect God’s Glory: Let your actions inspire others to see the goodness of God. Shine your light by living out His love and truth in both word and deed.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for calling us to be light in the world. Help us to let go of anger, revenge, and all that seeks to harm others, and instead fill our hearts with the warmth of Your love, faith, courage, and hope. Teach us to be instruments of peace and light, guiding others to Your truth. May our lives glorify You and bring healing to a world in need. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen 🙏

Dear Creator, in these challenging times of reflection, we approach You with open hearts, seeking Your divine grace and guidance for all beings. We extend our heartfelt support to the students and institutions affected by the potential revocation of Harvard’s ability to enroll international students. May compassion and understanding prevail, ensuring that education remains a vital conduit to opportunity and connection.
We fervently pray for wisdom and integrity in leadership as debates regarding independence and authority unfold. May decisions be guided by a steadfast commitment to justice, fairness, and the well-being of all.
For the precious habitats and endangered species at risk, we implore Your protection and care. May we assume the role of stewards of the Earth, honoring the delicate equilibrium of life and preserving its splendor for future generations.
