A Prayer for Compassion and Justice in Times of Struggle, July 9, 2025
Dear Divine Spirit of Compassion and Justice, we address You today, burdened by sorrow, uncertainty, and the yearning for peace that transcends all divisions.
We pray for the thousands of federal workers who dine at their tables tonight with layoff notices beside unpaid bills. For those who served with unwavering dedication and now face the unknown with trembling hands, may they be met with dignity, support, and the assurance that their labor was not in vain. Let justice guide policy, and compassion direct every decision.
We lift up the people of Texas, where millions reside on flood plains, akin to Camp Mystic. We remember the children, families, and communities that dwell near rivers that can both nurture and destroy. May wisdom emerge from the aftermath of disaster, and may leaders heed the pleas of those who have long sought protection.
We express gratitude for the quiet affirmation of justice as the Supreme Court declines to permit Florida to enforce its immigration crackdown. May this serve as a reminder that no one is deemed illegal in Your eyes, and that mercy must always coexist with law. We pray for the strangers at the gate, that they may be welcomed with grace, not fear.
We hold in prayer the people of Brazil, as steep tariffs are announced in protest of political trials. May diplomacy be guided not by vengeance, but by understanding and truth. Let nations communicate not with threats, but with humility, and may the dignity of every people be respected.
For all beings—the grieving and the rejoicing, the powerful and the powerless, the seen and the unseen—may peace prevail, love lead, and hope endure. Amen

Prayer for July 8, 2025: Peace, Love, and Hope for all Beings.
Dear Divine Presence of Justice and Mercy, we address you today, burdened by the weight of sorrow, the sting of injustice, and the yearning for peace that transcends geographical boundaries.
In Texas, we mourn with the people who have lost lives due to the devastating floodwaters, whose soil remains soaked with grief. We remember the children of Camp Mystic and the families who endured the anguish of delayed assistance. We lament the missed opportunities, particularly the eight years of unanswered pleas for a flood warning system. May this tragedy inspire a profound commitment to safeguarding life, and may those who mourn be enveloped in solace that no storm can erase.
The global community is also affected by the imposition of new tariffs on copper and other commodities, causing market unrest. As trade tensions escalate and uncertainty spreads, we implore our leaders to guide economic policies that prioritize not only profit but also the well-being of all, particularly the marginalized and unheard. May cooperation prevail over coercion, and may justice serve as the arbiter of every transaction.
We extend our prayers to the men deported from Asia and Latin America to South Sudan, a land foreign to them, fraught with peril and dislocation. Despite the complexities of their stories, we must never lose sight of their humanity. May mercy guide our judgment, and let every nation remember the sanctity of the stranger.
We grieve the atrocities unveiled in the recent Israeli report, which exposes the systematic use of sexual violence as a weapon of war by Hamas on October 7. For the victims whose voices were silenced, the survivors who bear invisible wounds, and the world that must now confront the truth—may justice emerge not in vengeance but in healing. Let us never become insensible to suffering, and let us honor the dignity of every soul violated by violence.
In a world characterized by scarcity and dependence, we express our gratitude for the unwavering resilience of Guyana, the sole nation that self-suffices in food production. This remarkable achievement serves as a testament to the potential when stewardship and vision converge. Let every nation draw inspiration from Guyana’s accomplishments to ensure the nourishment of its people. May food security become a shared global aspiration.
For all beings—the bereaved and the elated, the powerful and the vulnerable, the visible and the invisible—may peace prevail, love guide, and hope endure. Amen

Prayers for Healing: A Response to Tragedy in Texas, June 7, 2025
Dear Divine Presence of Mercy and Mystery, we come before You with hearts heavy and open, bearing the grief of a world in mourning and the longing for peace that transcends all borders.
We lift up the people of Texas, where floodwaters have claimed at least 82 lives and families still await word of the missing—children, counselors, and loved ones swept away in the night. We remember especially the community of Camp Mystic, a place once filled with laughter and song, now echoing with loss. We honor the life of Dick Eastland, who gave his own in a final act of love. May those who grieve be comforted, those who search be strengthened, and those who are lost be found.
As new tariff deadlines approach and uncertainty stirs global markets, we pray for wisdom among leaders that decisions made in haste or pride might give way to cooperation, clarity, and compassion. Let not the language of trade become a weapon but a bridge toward mutual respect and shared prosperity.
We hold in prayer all affected by violence, including those shaken by the active shooter incident in McAllen, Texas. For the wounded, the first responders, and the community left reeling, we pray for swift healing and for peace to take root where fear once stood.
We lift up the growing number of families affected by the measles outbreak, now the worst in over three decades. We pray for the hospitalized children, for the communities struggling with trust and access, and for the public health workers laboring to protect the most vulnerable. May truth guide our choices, and may love guide our care for one another.
As birthrates decline across the United States and the world, we reflect on the changing rhythms of family and the future. We pray that every person feel free to choose their path without shame or fear. We pray that governments and communities respond not with panic but with policies rooted in dignity, equity, and support for all.
For all beings—the grieving and the rejoicing, the powerful and the powerless, the seen and the unseen—may peace prevail, may love lead, and may hope endure. Amen

Today’s Prayer, Embracing Hope Amidst Tragedy: A Prayer for Healing, July 6, 2025
Dear Divine Presence of Mercy and Light, in the midst of the rising floodwaters and the soaring prayers, we come before you with hearts open, carrying with us a tapestry of sorrow, confusion, gratitude, and hope.
We lift up the people of Texas, where nearly 70 lives have been lost to devastating floods, and where families still await, their hearts heavy with grief. We remember particularly the children of Camp Mystic, whose summer dreams were tragically swept away in the night. We honor the life of Dick Eastland, whose final act was one of courage and love—a shepherd laying down his life for the lambs in his care. May his memory be a blessing, and may all who mourn be enveloped in your comforting embrace.
For the survivors who recall the anguished cries of cars and trailers, for the rescuers who persevere through exhaustion and heartbreak, and for the communities rebuilding from the ruins, we grant them strength, healing, and the grace to carry one another forward.
As the world observes the expiration of tariff pauses and the uncertainty they entail, we pray for wisdom among leaders, that decisions made in boardrooms and briefings would not deepen divisions or exacerbate suffering. May justice guide our economies, and may compassion temper our policies.
In the hills of Dharamshala, where thousands gathered to celebrate the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday, we express our gratitude for a life devoted to peace, for a voice that has resonated with us, calling us to compassion, and for the enduring light of wisdom in a world often beset by fear. May his message transcend the celebration—that peace of mind begins with a benevolent heart and that love for all beings is the highest path.
For all beings—the grieving and the rejoicing, the powerful and the powerless, the seen and the unseen—may peace prevail, love lead, and hope endure. Amen
