Today’s Prayer for Peace, July 3, 2025

Dear Divine Presence, we come before You with hearts open, grieving, hopeful, questioning, and yearning for peace.

In the halls of power, where voices rise and tempers flare, we lift up the impassioned speech of Representative Jeffries and the weight of decisions that shape the lives of millions. May our leaders be guided not by partisanship but by compassion. Let every budget be a reflection of justice, and every law a mirror of mercy.

We give thanks for the resilience of workers and the dignity of labor, as 147,000 new jobs bloom in uncertain soil. May every hand that toils be honored, and may economic strength be measured not only in numbers but also in the well-being of every soul.

We pray for wisdom as the Supreme Court takes up questions that touch the very core of identity and fairness. May every athlete, every child, and every person be seen not as a debate but as a beloved creation. Let justice be tempered with empathy, and let dignity be the standard by which we govern.

We mourn the lives lost in Chicago—four souls taken, fourteen wounded, in yet another eruption of senseless violence. Comfort the grieving, heal the wounded, and awaken us to the sacredness of every life. May we no longer grow numb to bloodshed but rise with courage to seek peace in our streets.

We lift up the stories of two pregnant asylum seekers whose children’s citizenship hangs in the balance of geography and policy. May we remember that every child born is a bearer of divine light, and that no border can define the worth of a human soul. Let justice roll down like waters, and let love be the law that governs our welcome.

We pray for integrity in every institution, as allegations surface in Illinois casinos. May truth be revealed, and trust restored. Let every enterprise serve the common good, and may greed never outweigh accountability.

As heatwaves ravage the planet, causing loss of life, we implore the creation itself for intervention. We acknowledge our neglect, tardiness, and denial. We seek guidance on living in harmony, honoring the earth as a sacred entity, and taking proactive measures to prevent further loss of life due to our inaction.

For all beings—both visible and intangible, both powerful and powerless, both joyful and sorrowful—may peace prevail, love guide us, and hope endure. Amen
