A Prayer for Peace Amid Global Turmoil, July 4, 2025

Dear Divine Presence of Mercy and Justice, you who reside in every breath, every boundary, every shattered heart, we address you today not with fear, but with an enduring longing. We yearn for peace in a world teetering on the edge of tension, for wisdom in the halls of power, and for compassion to emerge where division has taken root.

We extend our prayers to those ensnared in the crossfire of politics and policy. As leaders “promote” the megabill with competing visions, we implore that truth not be lost in rhetoric and that the most vulnerable not be sacrificed for the sake of power. Let every decision be guided by justice, and every law be crafted with love.

We lift up those whose lives are shaped by economic fluctuations. For the elderly who may find solace in a $6,000 deduction and for the millions who fear the potential consequences of Medicaid cuts, we extend our support. May we remember that budgets are not merely numerical figures, but reflections of our collective spirit.

We grieve for the lives lost in Texas’ devastating floods. We mourn the six souls confirmed deceased and the children still missing in the rising waters. May their families find solace, and may the efforts of those searching and rescuing be strengthened. May the earth’s tremors awaken us to the profound responsibility of caring for creation with reverence.

We pray for peace in the realm of nations. As tariff threats disrupt markets and strain alliances, we implore humility to guide our leaders, and cooperation to triumph over pride. Let not the language of trade become a weapon, but a conduit for mutual respect.

We hold in prayer the people of Ukraine, as bombs fall and lives are shattered. We lift up the voices of those seeking safety and the leaders who strive for peace amidst the rubble. May the dialogue between nations lead not to further delay, but to a genuine and enduring ceasefire.

Even in moments of celebration, such as Joey Chestnut’s triumphant mustard crown, we express gratitude for the enduring joy, the cherished traditions, and the laughter that reminds us of our shared humanity.

For all beings—the grieving and the rejoicing, the powerful and the powerless, the seen and the unseen—may peace prevail, love guide, and hope endure. Amen. 💕✌️🙏
