This Week’s Kids Lesson: Gratitude Lifts Your Heart Higher

1. Gratitude Changes Your Heart

When you say “thank You” to God, something special happens inside you. Your heart feels lighter, happier, and more peaceful.

The Bible says God can renew your mind and fill your heart with His peace.

  • “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2
  • “Give thanks… and God’s peace will guard your heart.” — Philippians 4:6–7

Gratitude helps you move from worry to peace.

2. Gratitude Helps You See God’s Goodness

When you’re thankful, you notice all the good things God gives you.

The Bible says giving thanks is God’s will for us.

  • “Give thanks… for this is the will of God.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

A thankful heart is like an open window — it lets God’s goodness shine in.

3. Gratitude Pushes Away Negative Feelings

Complaining, fear, and sadness can make your heart feel heavy. But gratitude lifts your heart higher.

The Bible says to give thanks in every situation.

  • “Give thanks in all circumstances.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Being thankful is like turning on a light in a dark room.

4. Gratitude Grows Good Fruit in Your Life

When you practice gratitude, God grows wonderful things in your heart:

  • Peace
  • Joy
  • Clarity
  • Faith
  • Contentment

Gratitude doesn’t make God love you more — it helps you enjoy the love He already gives.

5. Gratitude Is Something You Practice Every Day

The Bible says to remember God’s blessings.

  • “Forget not His benefits.” — Psalm 103:2

You can practice gratitude by:

  • Thanking God for five things each morning
  • Saying “thank You” out loud
  • Thanking God before you see the answer
  • Ending your day by remembering one good thing God did

Gratitude helps your heart grow strong in Jesus.
